Kaso Lathu Creatives was born from a vision: to harness the power of creative fashion and art as a tool for economic empowerment in Malawi and beyond. Founded by Nomonde Sambakunsi, our journey began with a simple belief — that fashion can be a force for good. Through our brand, Nomonde Designs, we have turned that vision into impact.

Today, we are a registered social enterprise creating sustainable, eco-conscious clothing that celebrates African heritage while empowering women and youth through skills training, capacity building, and mentorship. From banana fiber innovation to handcrafted tailoring, every piece we create tells a story of purpose, passion, and possibility.

From sourcing eco-friendly fabrics and developing our innovative banana fiber project to minimizing waste through our “timeless fashion” philosophy, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do.

Our banana fiber project turns agricultural waste — banana stems that are typically discarded — into beautiful, biodegradable fabric. This climate-smart initiative not only reduces pollution but also creates meaningful economic opportunities for local farmers.

We partner with local artisans and ethical manufacturers, ensuring that our commitment extends from our design studio in Lilongwe to every piece of Nomonde Designs clothing we create. We are proud to be a social enterprise that prioritizes people and the planet alongside profit.
